Starry flower coaster - free pattern

I created this pretty coaster pattern last week and wanted to share it with you but couldn't find the time to photograph it. Today my son asked me to make coffee cake for him. Though I was tired and my whole body was aching from a terrible bike ride on potholed roads yesterday and was very badly in need of rest in the afternoon I agreed almost immediately for the reason that I would have a good prop to photograph my coaster.

Here is the pattern with step-by-step photographs for the very pretty starry flower coaster.

I used worsted weight yarn and size G/4.00 mm hook. The pattern is written is American terms, so for my readers who use British terms,

sc - single crochet (American) and double crochet (British)
dc - double crochet (American) and treble (British)
sl st - slip stitch (American) and single crochet (British)
ch - chains
dc3tog - double crochet 3 stitches worked together into the same stitch

Round 1: Using white ch 8, join with a sl st to form a ring. Ch 3, 19 dc into ring (20 dc). Join. (ch 3 will be considered the 1st dc). Break off yarn.

Round 2: Join yellow into any stitch. Ch 3, dc2tog in the same stitch (this will be considered as the first dc3tog), ch 3. [Skip next dc, dc3tog in next dc, ch 3] around. Join. Break off yarn.

Round 3: Join pink into any 3 chain space, ch 3 and 3 dc in same space, ch 1. Work [4 dc, ch 1] into every 3 chain space around. Join. Break off yarn.

Round 4: Join green into any 1 chain space. Work [(dc3tog, ch 3, dc3tog), ch 4] in every 1 ch space around. Join. Break off yarn.

Round 5: Join dark blue into a 3 chain space. Work [(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into 3 chain space, ch 1, sc into the next 4 chain space, ch 1] around. Join. Break off yarn.

Round 6: Join light blue into a dc. Work [sc in 3 dc, (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) in 3 chain space, sc in 3 dc, sc in next 1 chain space, sc in sc, sc in next 1 chain space] around. Join. Break off yarn and weave in the all the loose ends.

Don't forget to block it. Mine looked good only after blocking.

I hope you enjoy making a few coasters using the pattern.

Have a great day!

Mexican Sombrero

Hi everyone! This is just a quick post about a few new listings in my Etsy shop. If you don't know what a sombrero is, it is a typical Mexican hat with a pointed crown usually high and a very wide brim. I have tried to reproduce it as best as possible using crochet.

There are other hat patterns too...

If you are interested in buying the patterns you can visit my Etsy shop.

Thanks for stopping by!

Doily and roses

Hi, at last I have something to share with you all. Actually I should have done it long ago. I completed this doily when I was on vacation at my parents' place but almost forgot about it. I usually take my crochet threads and some doily patterns along while on vacation as they don't occupy much space and are easier to carry around.

I had a printout of this pattern with me but I don't remember where I got it from. After finishing this one I started one more called the Thistledown doily but I got stuck towards the end. It was a little confusing and I lost interest. I will try to finish it when I have more time in my hands.

I hope you enjoyed these photos. I will come back when I have something to share.
